At my evaluation the program manager made it seem like she knew her stuff. I still believe she does. However, she introduced me to the biofeedback specialist as a Yogi, which was false. The biofeedback specialist advised me I wasn't breathing from my diaphragm, when I was.... my digestive system hadn't moved in days so my belly could not extend any further. I did a few stretches on my first day, it's not specifically designed for you, it's a cookie cutter sheet of stretches that everyone gets. No one went over my plan with me. My PT decided to question me about names of yoga poses, instead of focusing on why I was there. I went in the pool which was nice. My first real day, I went in and the other patients showed me how to set up my relaxtion area for breathing time. Went into workout area. Only two PT'S for about ten people. No one went over every single stretch with me to make sure I had proper alignment, and I injured myself. It's also due to the fact that during my evaluation the director noted that all my muscles were in knots. So prior to exercise, they should be doing myofascial release, and manipulating my body to loosen my muscles so that I can exercise. I advised them prior to my visit that I am allergic to fragrance, and it triggers my PTSD. On the second day, perfume as soon as I went in secretary's office. I can't lift the heating pads out of the steam machine with the tongs because it's too heavy for me. They don't help you with that, it's extremely hot and dangerous, I don't lift anything that heavy at home. The one good thing they did do was tell me what was wrong with my body, and evaluate my knees which are completely swollen and arthritic. I am now injured and in bed not moving after one full day of unsupervised stretching in there. I only get thirty days. So I have to make the most of it. With the top PT's not working with me, I don't see how I will be out of pain. They promised to slide my SI joint back in place, so I can sit without pain, and teach me how to do it. Have not advised when I will be getting that done. I prefer working with women, and the program director who is female advised she is going to be out of town for two weeks for vacation and I will be stuck with a man, and some assistants who don't know their stuff like Tara and Mike. I have a notebook full of stretches that I brought home, what is the difference of me doing it at home unsupervised or there unsupervised? Money, and injury. I don't have to pay RabbitTransit six bucks a day and spend four hours on a bus just to go from Carlisle to Mechanicsburg and then pay two copays. This is not tailored for each individual. They should also have myofascial release therapists and massage therapists there to loosen you up and undo knots in your body after spending a year and five months in bed. This is why they have you warm up prior to any sport as an athlete, because if you don't warm up, you hurt your muscles and there is greater chance for injury. I like the psychologist, but after a group session where he dressed up like cat in the hat from Dr Suess, I'm questioning my feelings about that. They also don't stop complete strangers from coming up and hugging you, which is weird when you have PTSD. Really awkward. The director is really intelligent, knows her stuff. But she totally let me down just after two days. I don't know if I will continue with them. Not until I start feeling like they truly care about helping me achieve a better quality of life, respect my time, my allergies, and start helping. Then maybe I will go back. Word to the wise who don't believe that cookie cutter solutions work because everyone is an individual with unique problems......think twice before going here. You may end up completely disappointed as I was, injured, and feeling like your team doesn't give a damn about you.
